About Bobcat of Pittsburgh/Erie/Indiana Cty.

RECO Equipment, Inc. was organized and founded in 1983 by Robert E. Hathaway, the former president. The company began with 28 employees in the Ohio coal fields at Morristown, Ohio. Today RECO Equipment, Inc. employs over 200 people at 18 different locations. Twelve of these locations are responsible for RECO Equipment, Inc. and six are Bobcat of Pittsburgh, owned entirely by RECO Equipment, Inc..

Belmont, Ohio was the original location of RECO Equipment, Inc. and remains corporate headquarters. Branch expansion began in Columbus in 1985 and in Cincinnati in 1986. After continued growth, larger new facilities were built in Columbus in 1987 at the present Perimeter Drive location. The Cincinnati Branch was moved to a more central location in Monroe, Ohio in 1995 with a new facility constructed in 2006.

On January 1, 1994, RECO Equipment, Inc. acquired Bobcat of Pittsburgh, which was located in a single facility on the south side of Pittsburgh. The operation was moved to Cranberry Twp, Pennsylvania in April of 1994. In May of 1995, a Bobcat Branch was opened in Youngwood, Pennsylvania and subsequently moved to a larger new facility in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania. Bobcat of Pittsburgh is run as an entirely separate operation. Concurrently a RECO Equipment, Inc. branch was formed at the same Cranberry location that houses Bobcat of Pittsburgh. In 1996 a new and separate building was built to house RECO Equipment, Inc.'s Pennsylvania operation.

In October of 1997, RECO Equipment, Inc. purchased the assets of OTEC (Ohio Tractor Equipment Co.). OTEC had branches located in Hudson and Perrysburg, Ohio. This acquisition provided RECO Equipment, Inc. full coverage of all major trading areas in the state of Ohio. A new building was purchased in Richfield, Ohio and the Hudson operations were moved to the new facility in June of 1998.

In September of 1998, another Bobcat branch was opened in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania to serve Southern Allegheny and Washington County customers. This branch was moved to a larger newer facility in Meadowlands, Pennsylvania.

In April of 2008, an ownership succession plan was implemented. Paul D. DiTullio (Vice President and General Manager of Bobcat of Pittsburgh), Joshua A. Gasber (Vice President of Product Support and Administration), and Reed B. Mahany (Vice President of Sales, then President until his retirement) were installed as Board Members and Share Holders of the Corporation. They have been with RECO Equipment, Inc. since 1994. Their wealth of experience will ensure a smooth transition of ownership to RECO Equipment, Inc.'s business and financial partners in the years ahead.

In December of 2008, RECO Equipment, Inc. opened the doors of its seventh RECO Equipment, Inc. facility by purchasing the assets of Newman Equipment, Inc. This facility is located in Indianapolis, Indiana. This expanded footprint from Pittsburgh to Indianapolis provides a larger equipment fleet and parts inventory to draw upon.

In May of 2011, RECO Equipment, Inc. opened its first Michigan facility and its eighth location in Brighton, MI. This latest location enhances RECO Equipment, Inc.'s ability to serve the scrap and demolition industries in the Detroit metro and Southern Michigan area.

On September 1, 2011, a fourth Bobcat branch was opened in Indiana, PA. Bobcat of Indiana County, a full-service facility, completes coverage to all four corners of the Bobcat territory.

2014 was a year of multiple expansions for RECO Equipment, Inc., with the acquisition of another Bobcat store in Erie, PA, Bobcat of Erie and the acquisition of Republic Crane, LLC. The Republic Crane, LLC acquisition gave RECO Equipment, Inc. operating coverage throughout the southeastern United States.

In 2016, RECO Equipment, Inc. opened its first branch in the central time zone and first in the state of Tennessee when the Nashville branch opened for business in Lebanon, TN. The branch has since been moved to a larger facility in Lavergne, TN.

While RECO Equipment, Inc. always rented equipment, starting in 2017 a concerted effort was made to develop a separate rental department which has matured into RECO Rents. By focusing on developing the rental department the company has been able to more fully penetrate the dirt moving markets in its footprint, helping to solidify the strategy of selling to and servicing a diverse customer base, allowing RECO Equipment, Inc. to maintain a strong presence in industrial, recycling, quarry, transloading and dirt moving markets.

In 2019, RECO Equipment, Inc. continued its strategic expansion by opening a second facility in the state of Indiana in Fort Wayne. At approximately halfway between Indianapolis, IN and Toledo, OH, the branch increased RECO’s ability to service the customers in both north eastern Indiana as well as western Ohio and added convenience for rental customers in those areas.

On December 31, 2019, as part of an ongoing succession plan, Reed Mahany retired as president of RECO Equipment, Inc. Paul DiTullio assumed the role of President and Josh Gasber continued in his role as Vice President.
